Our History

New Sunflower Church leadership began learning about Spiritual topics from books. One day it occurred to them that there has to be other spiritual people out there. Maybe someplace in Indianapolis where we can grow with other Spiritual people.

Pastor Ryan Johnston began an internet search. He felt drawn to a spiritual church in Indianapolis. He also felt directed to go alone. He would later learn that the call to go alone was from his Spirit Guides. He went alone and it was a spiritual learning experience.

That church wasn’t a perfect fit though. Pastor Ryan Johnston kept searching around Indianapolis. While he was on that mission, some outsiders came in and took over the other church. This was the perfect time to start New Sunflower Church.

Pastor Ryan Johnston filled the articles of incorporation in 2012. As if planned by God, there was a convention about starting a church coming up later that month. The convention taught starting a church and following the laws of the land. One of Spiritualism’s principles is to follow natures physical and spiritual laws. Following physical and spiritual laws goes hand in hand with following the laws of the land. Thus, began New Sunflower Church.

New Sunflower Church started out meeting in a home.  We had a board meeting and selected our leaders. We established an online presence on our website and social media.

But, you don’t want to dabble in Spiritual things at home for too long. We got a permanent location only two short months after founding. One of our first blessings from God. We continue to have Sunday Service at 5562 Madison Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
